Races run from January through to November with awards presented at the Christmas party for 1st, 2nd and 3rd in each division. There are races from 1 mile up to a marathon, taking in road, track, trail and cross country courses so there really is something for everyone.
We currently have over 100 runners regularly taking part, split through a number of divisions based on ability. Any new member who wants to take part will be allocated a division at the start of the year based on previous race times and coaches recommendations.
Most of the races will be decided at the start of the year. They will usually include one Kent Fitness League Cross Country race, one pre-bbq appetite whetting track race, and a variation of events including 5k, 5miles, 10k, 10 miles, half marathon, and sometimesa longer race.. If you run any marathon, there is no pre-set race for this, then that time also counts.The club will organise marathon training and trips to help you achieve this goal if you desire.
The races will include some local races, others that we know you like, and usually one we haven't tried before.
For each Grand Prix results will be compared to others in the same division to determine a finishing order and points will be awarded as follows:
1st 20 points
2nd 18 points
3rd 17 points
And so on...
The 8 best scores out of the will count and the top 3 in each division will win prizes.
As these are races, even if chip-timing is available, Gun Time and the finishing order will be used to determine our results. This is for all except the marathon, where as there is no standard race and the vagaries of field size we will use Chip Time.
