About DRR

Dartford Road Runners is an adult (over 18s) running club and we welcome both new and seasoned runners to come along see what we do.We can offer training suitable for every ability from total beginner to county champions. The club is run to ensure that everyone is as important as the next. Training and competitions are designed and organised to be fully inclusive rather than exclusive.

The club was formed on the 1st April 1998 by a small group of local road runners,

The club became affiliated to the Kent County and South Eastern Amateur Associations thereby bringing the benefits of affiliation to all members. The home of Dartford Road Runners is Princes Park Stadium, Grassbanks, Dartford. This is the home of Dartford Football Club. We meet here every Tuesday and Thursday evening throughout the year and on most Sunday mornings. At the stadium we enjoy excellent up to date sporting facilities and also the social amenities the stadium has to offer such as the lounge bar and changing facilities. There is a dedicated beginners group on a Tuesday.

The weekday club runs start at 6.50pm and the Sunday runs at 9.00am. Runners are free to arrange and follow their own training schedule or to join the varied organised training sessions to achieve specific goals. The emphasis of the training changes throughout the year to take account of seasonal changes in the targets set by individuals.Coaches will always be available to give advice or plan specific training schedules.

There is a handicap competition each month, which, runs throughout the year. The summer course is held in the vicinity of Darenth country Park and the winter course uses well lit roads around the town. Trophies are awarded to the top five runners each season.

A grand prix series runs each year, consisting of ten races, starting in January and finishing in December. Members wishing to take part are placed in a division where they compete against others of similar ability. Trophies are awarded to the top three runners in each division at the annual Christmas Ball.

We organise  a 5K race series in Joydens Wood each summer which is well supported by many clubs. These races are held on the last Wednesday of May, June and July, using a different course through the woods each month.

Dartford Road Runners compete as a team in the London based Assembly League in the summer, and in the Kent, and Kent Fitness cross country leagues in the winter.

As well as competition DRR organises a number of social events throughout the year including a summer barbecue, Christmas Ball and various trips, both in the UK and abroad throughout the year.,
