Weekly update 06/01/19

There was a brave scattering of DRR runners at Brands Hatch on Saturday competing in the County Champs, the weather was quite challenging and great practice for when the Best in the East 2 arrives. The weather today could not have been better for the KFL at Nurstead with 41 of you competing. Jay kept up his record of coming home in first place. The only disappointment of the day being Anne Dellow leaving her cooking delights at home. I sure there will be double cake available next time. We also had a good number enjoying a Sunday Social run down in Sevenoaks. Well done all on your running.

Welfare Policy

Please find attached the DRR 2019 Welfare Policy, we trust you will all abide by it and respect your fellow runners, we are all different but enjoy the same pastime. Emma Brown and Gary Bignell have volunteered to be our Welfare Officers. MOB Match,

Just a reminder that the Dartford Mob Match takes place next Saturday at Lullingstone Parkrun. The event will be using the parkrun itself so please be ready for the 09:00 start. You will need your barcode as Richey will be using the parkrun results to compile the scoring. Please ensure you have DRR as your nominated running club within your parkrun profile. All runners count so it will be great to see as many of you there as possible.

Training Kit

Jackie will be submitting a training kit order at the end of the week, so if you need anything please let her know asap. The order forms can be found on the website.

Winter training plan and Marathon training Sunday run schedule.

Please find attached combined training plan. A bespoke Marathon training plan has been sent out to those that have indicated they are running a Spring Marathon, the only difference being is this includes suggested midweek runs on a Monday and Wednesday. If not, can you please let Brian know. We will adapt the Sunday Social around this.

Message from the Chair,

  1. Please wear a stop watch so you know how long each rep is taking and see your progress over time
  2. If you are going to the start of the session rather than the club please get there for 6.50 and start to run towards the club turning around once you meet the others. This allows you to have warmed up as much as the others have when the session starts and being winter muscles need to be warmed up to reduce injury.
  3. Please try to have a wee jog on a Monday after tough races and runs on Sunday. This will mean you have flushed your legs out and will be ready to go at Tuesday training.

Training

Tuesday – Winter Handicap race number 4, meet at Dartford library for a 19:00 depart. Alternatively leave the club at 18:50 sharp

Wednesday – Terry’s track session a 7pm start the session lasts for about an hour and looks at technique and form. The coaching is free, however there is a track hire charge of £4.50 per runner.

Thursday – Meet at the club for a 18:50 depart –   From club to Temple Hill Sq, TL down Temple Hill towards Dartford, carry straight on into Victoria Rd to Burnham Rd to Thames Rd. TL up Perry St at Church TL Iron Mill Lane at bottom of hill TR Barnes Cray Rd At end of playground TR Crayford Way TL in Crayford to TR into Princes Rd back to club. Shorter route can avoid Temple Hill and or TL from Thames Rd into Crayford Way.
