Weekly update 11/11/18

I hear we had a wonderful turn out at the Swanley KFL today, with 62 of you running in DRR colours. To top this off we had first male Jay Smith leading the troops home. Congratulations to you all for taking part especially on such a day as this.

We also had the ladies run at Danson yesterday’, judging by the smiling faces I’d say they all had a good time, well done on your achievements.

Brighton 10K GP

As it turns out this event starts in pens, which does pose a bit of an issue as far as gun times go for GP results. Therefore, this race will be based on chip times. This seems the fairest option.

Sunday Run

As Brian mentioned in his email we are looking to re-energise the Sunday Long/|Social runs. We have a few volunteers to lead this each week (thanks to you all), if you fancy taking an active role then let us know. We are compiling a roster, this will be published shortly.

First Sunday SLR

With the Brighton 10K on this coming weekend we expect most of you are away. But for those that were unsuccessful in obtaining a spot the mighty Wilmo and myself will be leading a 10K/6M form Princes Park this coming Sunday. We will leave at 08:30. It will be a nice and easy pace, and no one will be left behind. We will send out an update and FB post later to confirm route details and for you to register your interest.

As we are nearing the end of the GP season, next week will be the last of the parkruns to qualify for GP scoring, this gives us enough time to order the trophies and process the results.

The Christmas Party is fast approaching, it would be great to see you all in your non-running attire, details below.

This year’s Christmas party will be held on Friday 7th December from 7:30pm till midnight in the smaller room at Princes Park. It will consist of a band, hot finger food, a raffle and will keep the tradition of the award presentations. Tickets will be £15 per person – payable by cash/cheque or to the club account.

We will need all numbers and payments by mid-November and please do let me know if you have any dietary requirements.

Dress code is smart/casual – no black tie required but party dresses are always welcome. We have tried to mix things up a bit this year with something different, so we hope as many of you can make it as possible as it’s sure to be a great night!

Training

To mix things up a little over the next few weeks there will be different people leading the training each session, detail will be posted against each session.

Tuesday: Meet at the club for a 18:50 depart or meet at Dartford library for the second in the series of the winter handicap. We are lucky that Ann Nugent will be taking the reigns on this one.

Wednesday: Terry’s track session a 7pm start the session lasts for about an hour and looks at technique and form. The coaching is free, however there is a track hire charge of £4.50 per runner.

Thursday: A 20min out and back along Hawley Road, either leave the club at 18:50 or meet at the Jct of Princes Road and Hawley Road ( by the VW garage). We have Sarah Cronin as run lead, so we know it’s going to be tough.
