Weekly update 21/10/18

Once more there were many of you displaying your running skills this weekend. We had Charlotte and Steph Wood attend the Abingdon Marathon today, Charlotte came home in an impressive 3:43. Unfortunately Steph had to pull out after 10 miles due to a foot injury. John Tobin also ran the Ranscombe Farm Marathon on Saturday He tried to keep it quiet, but we had our spies out. If anyone has any marathons etc coming up let us know and we can keep an eye out for you.

Message from Pete Butler

Following the successful head torch run that we had last year I have decided to organise a series of three head torch runs this winter. The first will be held on Friday 2nd Nov starting from the war memorial in Stansted. We will be meeting at 7 o’clock for a 7:15 start. This run is approx. 6 miles long and will be fully guided, the majority of it is off road. I would anticipate that we would run at about 9 min mile pace with regular re groups, with the whole run taking about an hour. Following the run we shall adjourn to the Black Horse pub for a drink for those that wish to join us. The second run will be on Friday 30th Nov and will be from Camer park at the same time. This run again will be fully guided and be about 10 miles in length. Again, we would adjourn for a drink either in the George in Meopham or the Cock Hill, Gold Street to be decided. The third run will be in January a date to be decided and will be about 8 miles long starting from the Amazon and Tiger in Harvel. If you are interested in coming along I would like to know in advance so I have an idea of numbers and can plan accordingly. You can either let me know via the DRR Facebook page and we will add you to the Closed Head torch Facebook page or if you do not have Facebook just email me and I will update you by email. (if you can email the DRR account in the first instance we can then pass on your details to Pete) If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to email me or speak to me at training.

Club Champs: This 5M run takes place next Sunday at 10:00 by Asda Greenhithe, please remember to put your clocks back, we don’t want anyone turning up late!!!
