Weekly update 28/10/18

Hope you all had a good running weekend. As Brian mentioned on Facebook for those with spring and Autumn Marathons, now is the time to start with the long runs, try to get a min 10M in each week leading up to Christmas and you will reap the rewards come the day.

Speaking of Marathons, Kayley and David R completed the Beachy Head Marathon on Saturday, a somewhat unique event where you can consume more calories than you burn. Great views and a challenge where you truly earn your medal. Jordan Cantwell also completed the Frankfurt Marathon today in 3:46, congrats on your times and accomplishments.

Cross Country Info:

Please Note: Ian shall be taking charge this season for entries to the Kent Vets XC, Kent Champs XC, the Southerns and Nationals and we will both be looking after the KFL together, after this season he shall be taking over all the XC related bits and bobs..

Well done to all those who took part in the challenging course at Somerhill School yesterday in the second Kent League race of the year, Sarah Cronin did very well to finish just outside the top twenty, a fine inaugural run by Rebecca Finch, also good to see Jack O’Sullivan ‘back in black’

Next Two Fixtures in the Kent League are: November 10th at Danson Park, it’s ladies only for this one with a race start of 1400hrs.  Then Footscray Meadows on November 24th with a men only race, also at 1400hrs.

Next Sunday at 11am sees the first in this seasons Kent Fitness League cross country with a five (and a bit) mile jaunt around the lovely Knole Park in Sevenoaks.

For those who have not run the KFL before, it is a series in which all abilities are, and do, take part, so do not worry you won’t be quick enough, just turn up with a club vest, register with whoever is doing the admin – either myself or the very lovely Darren Moss next week, then run!

The pre-race meet is at Sevenoaks Leisure Centre in Buckhurst Lane TN13 1LW, apparently some building work going on there so please car share if possible. Please note there is a walk from the HQ to the start of at least 15 minutes so allow for this, ideally get there at least an hour before the start time.

Dartford Harriers and Petts Wood are likely to be the teams to beat this season, but no reason that with a good turnout we should not be competitive this year.

Marathon Waiting List:

For any EA affiliated members who have had rejections for the London Marathon and who wish to join the club waiting list please let me have sight of your rejections and we will draw names to add to the list.
