Weekly update 30/12/18

Hopefully a few miles were covered over the break and not just Christmas pies consumed.  The Marathon training season is just about to start, and Brian is putting the finishing touches to this and the winter training plan. We are going to try and combine the Sunday Social and Marathon training runs as much as possible but as the distances increase and locations change this may not always be possible, a few Social runs will be local whilst the marathon training runs maybe further afield.

We had eight competing yesterday in the Cambridge Harriers 7.5M XC at Joydens Wood. Well done guys for representing the club.

Cross Country Update 2018/19: Next Sunday at 11am sees the fourth, and possibly the best, cross country course in this years Kent Fitness League at nearby Nurstead Court in Meopham, a slightly undulating course with a couple of damp patches here and there.

Regarding the season so far, we have looked fairly solid with a few regulars missing, currently in the combined teams we lie fourth with our ladies in seventh and the chaps in fourth place, at present Jay Smith looks almost certain to win the individual male prize. With further races on January 13th at Minnis Bay and February 3rd at Rough Common in Canterbury, it is not impossible for us to sneak into the top three (although Petts Wood look to have the first place team in the bag), so if you can turn out in as many of the last few races as possible to support the club it would be great.

For those of you running in the Kent Champs next Saturday just enjoy it, and remember to bring warm clothes if the temperature dips as the site is quite exposed.

The last of this years Kent League XC is on Saturday 9th February, venue is still showing as tbc but likely to be at Sparrows Den at West Wickham.

A few members have entered the League this year and not run any races at all. Due to the cost to the club I would ask anyone in this position to contact me with a view to reimbursing the club for the entry fees.

Unfortunately we have missed the entry deadlines for the Southerns at Parliament Hill this year, but if anyone wants to run the  National XC Champs which are in Leeds this year on February 23rd, please contact Ian before entries close on January 11th…….
